California Dreaming....for fall break

In October Brent had a work conference in California. It fell right during the kids school fall break and October was kids go free (to sea world legoland etc) month so of course we busted down to California...We first hit Universal Studios for Harry Potter World. Cami and Taryn LOVED it. We did the castle ride several times and all the displays on the way to the ride were so awesome and detailed. It really did feel like you were plopped down in Hogs mead...especially at night. Jocelyn and Creed weren't quite big enough for some of the rides and some of the stuff was just scary for them (read Creed cried the whole way through the studio tour and we all felt really bad for exposing him to fake fire and earthquakes...) Honey dukes and butter beer resolved and sad feelings and overall it was a win. The next day we hit legoland. Jocelyn and Creed LOVED it. Creed wanted to ride the dragon roller coaster over and over and I think the final count was 13 rides...luckily the lines weren't really long because he apparently is a roller coaster boy. He also really liked the Lego car coaster. We all loved seeing the star wars Lego displays. It was a fun day.
Friday we took a break from intense theme park action and did historic down town stuff like the Mormon battalion museum. We panned for gold and just had fun seeing the sites. We also played at Balboa park then swam at the hotel pool. We spent the day with Brent's partners wife and kids and it was really fun.We went to this cool Indian restaurant with everyone in the evening and it was really good (according to Brent and I) and a good stretching for our kids...Taryn liked it....
Saturday we decided to hit the beach ALL day. We got there at like 10 am and didn't leave until the sun set. The kids all said this was their favorite day. We all loved it. That evening we met up with some friends from home and hit the cheesecake factory. It was delicious and we all slept great in a sun/sugar coma.
Sunday we drove back and were sorry that such a good time had to end. We listened to Harry Potter Cd's in the car the whole way and laughed every time they skipped or were scratched..."cookie cookie coookie..." It was definitely a trip filled with good memories.
