Ktichen cook off

A few weeks ago Taryn invited a friend over after school. Their plans fell through but before long (like within a few minutes) there were eight girls in the kitchen having a dessert cook off. They looked up recipes and went crazy. It took several hours and dishes and ingredients but wow they seemed to have fun....and the desserts were really great.

He is a mower boy

Every time he hears the mower turn on he bee lines it straight to the sound. He begs and begs until I either let him move a small section the double check it for him (redo all the missed patches) or until he walks right in front of me and behind the mower helping to push (this makes mowing a very slow process). I will be really happy about this in a year or two when he just busts it out on a Saturday morning without me....until then I will just stand back and laugh that my kid loves equipment so much. 

Leprachan traps

For days and days Jocelyn and Creed tried to catch a leprechaun. They had a whole trap set up with "lettuce" leaves (that's what a leprechaun eats apparently) and "gold" luring it in. Then a bucket with a string and stick attached (think mouse trap). They never did catch one but a leprechaun (named Cami who thought the whole thing super cute and funny) left them some candy and notes. This kept them busy and dreaming for hours and the house trashed for days. But I secretly love all their imagination. These two peas in a pod are so lucky to have each other!

New Years Up North....way delayed...

As is our tradition a few days after Christmas we booked it up north and spent time with the Weight family over new years. As always our tradition was to have fun and it was successful!

We visited temple square in down town and all the different nativities and lights were amazing. Jocelyn particularly loved the cheetah one.

Thanks to Aunt Michele and cousin Rachael the kids had an epic scavenger hunt. They had to find all kinds of funny things and they loved every second of it. Five months later they still talk about it.

                                       The cousins love each other and it is so fun to see.

We went out to eat Indian food in Salt Lake. Brent has wanted to go back/take me to this restaurant for like 3 years and finally we got lucky. It was really good, especially the nan (garlic bread pita stuff).

I got to take Jocelyn Creed and Aubry to the Bean Museum while the other kids had a little temple trip. We got lucky and they were having a live animal show. Did you know tarantulas could shoot hairy needle things up to 12 feet. I will not be in a hurry to get close to one now...not that I ever was...

More scavenger hunt fun....and treats....

Our time up north was filled with fun and games and great memories. We are so lucky to be part of a fun family. 

Just call me master chef!

Creed says such funny stuff all the time. The other day before school he decided he wanted to make himself scrambled eggs. I told him how to crack eggs and mix them and he totally went for it...He got eggs everywhere, nearly broke the plate by tipping the frying pan onto it and banging the back side to get the eggs out, and had a great time. As he looked at his very first success in the kitchen he said "just call me the master chef mom!" So if you ever need great scrambled eggs, a messy kitchen, and broken dishes just call the master chef. He'll hook you up.

master piece math skills/home decor

Taryn is a good student and takes a lot of honors classes. In honors math she basically gets harder content, more work, and a bonus big project each trimester. 

Her last trimester honors project was to design a house and calculate how much flooring and paint she would need and then figure out the cost. Taryn totally dove into this project full tilt. She did all the design work and calculations. Then she full on built a model of the house. But then on top of that she decorated the house with all this hand made mini furniture. She made area rugs and shower curtains and books and desks and all sorts of furniture. It was amazing. I love that her teacher thinks outside the box to challenge her and I love that she embraces challenge and takes it up several notches. She spent literally hours and hours beyond what was asked and I really really appreciate and value Taryn's work ethic....what a rock star! 

What? Are you kidding me?

Anyone who knows Cami knows she does not love her hair being played with or being combed or brushed recreationally at all. Ever. So one Sunday afternoon I came home to find this. Cami peacefully reading and creed going to town on her hair. Wow she must REALLY love him to let him spray and comb her hair....

And wow he must really love her to let her comb and decorate his hair....Somehow I think she got the better end of this deal....

Spring Break Staycation

This year for spring break we did a staycation and science fair projects. It was super fun but kind of still cold. 

We watched movies.

We met up with friends and played at a new park in town.

We made and drank milkshakes...mostly out of glasses but sometimes right off the counter.

We made the annual trip to the sand dunes and dairy queen. The down side was Cami and Taryn didn't come with us....But they were just as happy watching the Black Panther with Brent at the theater....and Yes Creed insisted on bringing adult sized shovels and digging tools.... 

We celebrated pie day with pies from veyo and went for a ride out to a place called Gunlock Reservoir. The road was narrow and made the kids nervous. It was great and made better because Uncle John came.

And we LOVED playing with cousins who were in town for a tennis tournament. I discovered that it is really fun to watch tennis but I am the worst fan because I like to cheer and be loud which is apparently inappropriate for a "gentleman's sport."

We obviously had to hit the downtown carousel and Judd's.

And we couldn't get enough of the park. The new swings are awesome!

So was the climbing spider web thing.

Overall it wasn't too adventurous and daring but it was really fun to hang with our people.

Sweet Sweet thing

We were doing a little DIY paint/cleaning action on the closet doors and I spotted this awesomely sweet picture that Creed left for Cami. I have found several of these the last little while and I couldn't bring myself to clean it off until I took a picture. I love that Creed loves his sisters and that he leaves love notes for them.
