I love that we live in a place where the community reaches out and supports schools. Every spring the power company has a kite festival. At the festival they give away kites and books and all sorts of things. There are tons booths and games. It is always a good time. The kids fill out reading calendars all spring then they turn them in here for prizes. We always have fun, especially since they moved the festival to the college campus closer to our house. The only tricky thing this year was playing Frisbee without whacking other people or their kites...but we just went home and played later.

Animal whisperer
Jocelyn loves all things animal which can be a bummer for her since I am pretty firmly planted in the no pets camp. Her buddy got bunnies for Easter and Jocelyn was in HEAVEN! She is seriously gentle with them and is in such a happy place when she can cuddle with one. I love her soft animal heart even if I don't love animals myself.
Free Time
Our yard stinks right now. We have goals of re landscaping but between now and then Creed and Jocelyn spend a lot of time in the dirt. Right now there's an awesome dirt bike course with jumps Creed made. One afternoon the decided to coat the slide in dirt and then slide down it....They frequently have to take showers....but they do have great times. And although I would prefer to have a real yard with grass I love the imagination they are developing....
Science Fair
April Fools-parent style
So this is delayed but the thought of it is still making me laugh today...
Background...kids went crazy on April Fools day....jello in the back of the toilet for a colorful surprise for the flusher...food coloring in the toothpaste, on toothbrushes and in shampoo. sink faucets taped to perfection so they squirted right at the user..toilets taped shut....The kids had a great time...

So the next day after discovering the food coloring in his shampoo Brent Weight is like hey do we have any of that Halloween colored hair spray? I checked and we had bright blue. He explained his plan to get Cami back and it was soooo funny. So I sprayed his hair splotchy and we waited for her to come home. I told her to go upstairs and tell dad about her day (he was working from home) but first apologize because dad had had to work from home because of her shampoo trick...A look of oh no crossed her face...so she goes up stairs and before she goes in she turns and looks at me in fear and says how much trouble am I in...I just shrugged....She goes in and looks and she can't even talk. She just shakes her head in disbelief...she had absolutely no words...until we saw tears in her eyes and then we couldn't let her suffer any more and busted up....She literally thought she had dyed his hair...And I think the parents won the April fools day trickery this year...
But I am sure Cami won't forget and will come up with something else to get us with....She's fun like that.

Conference traditions
Twice a year we get together to watch church at home. We started the tradition of eating Ableskievers several years ago. Ableskievers are a traditional Danish breakfast food sort of like fried donut holes and Grandma Esther was the champion of them during my growing up years. My kids officially Love the tradition now and I don't think I could skip making them if I tried.
Easter Break
Easter Break was fun and I am noticing a trend...we always have fun when the cousins are involved.
Lilacs officially are one of my favorites. I look forward to them every year.
Easter baskets with new swim suits and flip flops.
Walks with the cousins...what a good example of sibling love.
Wiener roasts in the cousins backyard.
A new way to dye Easter eggs...shaving cream and food coloring. Good messy fun...
Glow in the dark Easter egg hunts.

Little buddies
Creed has a little buddy that lives a few houses down. They have played together since they could play. This year they are also in the same school class (although their teacher has them sit across the room from each other). When they play it is soooo funny to listen to. Their little brains work together and they "do voices" for all their pretending. I love that Creed has such a good little buddy. I hope they always have each other. You can't beat a good friend for your kid!
family fun
One Sunday afternoon (I think this could have been Easter but its been to long for me to guess for sure) the cousins were in town. We ate food, played games, listened to Luke play tunes, and talked. It was just a good time!

Purple people eaters and firecrackers
Creed and Jocelyn both played spring soccer. Creed was super unsure about being the color purple but when one of the dads told the boys it was a tough color of purple they seemed pacified. They named their team the purple people eaters and some games it seemed like they ate their opponents. Not in a mean way, just in a oops we ran up the points way. They won every game I think and Creed genuinely seemed to have fun with his team. It was funny because there was only one little brown haired boy and the rest were all blond so it was hard to cheer for the right kid by name...Good times.
Jocelyn's team struggled a little more. They did win one game though and Jocelyn did great scoring. She is more of an intuitive player and it was fun to see. Most girls her age start playing competitive but I decided to wait and see with her. I think starting too early so competitively burned out Cami and I don't want Jocelyn to lose the love and fun in soccer...So rec seems a good fit for now....
