The Weight Family: August 2013

So our oldest niece/cousin got married august 3rd in Seattle and we were so excited that we had to go celeb rate. She is such a good solid example and I really appreciate my girls being able to see her and follow in her steps (in their own way of course).

After looking at airfares and gas prices Brent convinced me that a 20 hour road trip (each way) would be way fun. If you know me at all you know road trips aren't a favorite...like at all. BUT Brent loves them and I decided if we caravaned with other cousins maybe I could do it (and be a nice wife). And I am so glad we did. It was a super fun, minimally whining trip. We ate tons of red licorice, watched tons of movies, and read lots of books.
We drove to Layton and met up with some cousins. Cami climbed in their car for a scoobie doo fest and cousin Anna climbed in our car for a Barbie fest. Creed read books and played cars while Jocelyn watched a whole lot of Dora. We stayed in a hotel in Boise and the kids had crazy a lot of fun at the pool late that night.
In the morning we got back on the road for a while then had a near out of gas experience and found an exact replica of Radiator Springs...It was a fun diversions while we waited for the gas truck to show up to fill up the gas station...Huntington OR is a super friendly place with a park that reminds me of Urban Park in New Mexico. Anyway, after a second long day of Barbie and Dora movies we made it to Uncle David's house.
Once we were in Seattle itinerary looked like this:

Sunday July 28 – We went to church then hung with David and Melinda and Joel. We went for a walk and found berries to pick, and ate delicious food all day long. We went on another walk to Joel's preschool. Enjoyed Rices all day.

Monday July 29 –We went to Remlinger Farms (train ride/kiddie rides/famers market/animals). We ate a picnic lunch and enjoyed the weather not being 115 degrees....That night we visited a beach and Melinda showed us all how to find good sea shells.

Tuesday July 30 –We went to Everette Children’s museum. We played with water toys, trains, kitchen gear, glow rooms, dance rooms, ball rooms...basically this place was home of all kid things cool...

Wednesday July 31- We went to a cool park in the morning. In the afternoon we went on the most amazing hike through the forest to a beach to look for sea shells. Creed decided to scuba dive all by himself so Amy decided to jump in after him. After the hike we rode a ferry to a crapier and enjoyed DELISH crapes. We watched a fantastic sunset from the ferry on the way home.

Thursday August 1st - We got up and met the other family members who flew in for the wedding. We drove to Olympia and checked out a cool outdoor park/boardwalk that David helped with. We ate at a cool little store/deli and got ice cream. After that we traveled to the Ballard Lochs and watched the salmon jump and the boats squeeze through (and the trains rumble by). We bumped into friends from our Springville days and into friends from New Mexico...imagine going all the way to Seattle and bumping into friends we hadn't seen in YEARS! pretty cool. We ate pizza while we watched boats go by. That night we swam at the hotel with cousins. Jocelyn loved diving (yes actually tucking her head down, arms forward and pushing off the wall and down) through the pool water fall and swimming across the pool taking breaths and everything. I had happy thoughts/thankful thoughts for their swimming teacher. Everyone slept very well.

Friday-August 2nd-We did downtown Seattle. Our little gang checked out the space needle and gift shoppes and bought fudge for a snack. We then met up with the whole fam to visit the market and gum wall. Aunt Melinda introduced us to the most delicious warm doughnuts and Uncle Daniel introduced us to fresh Rainer cherries. I love the commotion and crush of humanity of the market but it will be so much cool when the kids are like a few years older. It actually rained and the kids got a huge kick out of feeding french fries to the sea gulls at Ivers. Brent was in love with the Brazilian drink stuff that Melinda found...That night we met all of our family and the grooms family at a park for a BBQ. It was a SUPER awesome park with a beach and play set and ducks. On the way in we found more berries to stop and pick. Our timing for this trip was awesome because all the berries were just getting ripe.

Saturday August 3rd- We did wedding stuff. The ceremony was short and sweet and perfect. We ate noodles in our hotel room (because you have to go someplace far from St George to have awesome noodle food) then made a fast trip to Snoqualamie falls. We made it back just in time for the reception/party of the year. I can't remember the last time Brent and I danced together...especially outside of our kitchen. It was super fun. We left just a little early so the kids could have one last swim at the hotel pool as promised. Just for the fun of remembering this is the same hotel that we stayed in at David's wedding and the first place Cami ever went swimming and pooped in a bath tub. Good memories.

Sunday August 4th-We packed and took off stopping at the temple in tri-cities ish area (I think?) for picnic action. Luckily everyone survived.

Monday August 5th-We got home about 10 ish and were very happy to get back to a good sleeping/eating/laundry routine...
