HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY
We had so much fun this 4th of July. We started off the day true to a rice family tradition of a scavenger hunt breakfast. After the kids ran around the yard looking for clues to the map they found breakfast waiting on the picnic tables in grandma's backyard. Grandma went all out with festive doughnuts, yogurt, fruit, cereal, juice, and more. It was so much fun to pass along a tradition and I hope our kids get to have the same great memories of 4th of July that I do.
After breakfast there was a carnival thing at the park. So despite the heat we braved the park. The kids had a blast on the carousel swing thing (after Taryn quite screaming long enough to realize it was fun) and in the jump castle thing. Grandma got everyone snow cones and we walked around for a couple minutes before we decided we had heat exhaustion and needed to go home.
The girls played with cousins and watched a movie while Brent took a much needed nap/break. That evening we had a BBQ at our house and broke a Dora pinata. The girls weren't sure why they needed to hit Dora or why it was ok until the candy flew and then they were all over it. We attempted to watch fireworks this year. After thirty seconds of Cami screaming and scared, scaring Taryn, we headed inside to bed. (yes Cami is still terrified of loud noises). All in all it was a great day and it was fun to spend it with family for a change...

The Hunt Continues in Grandma Jennings's yard

Anyone this tall can't read the sign...even if they can will the excitement really stop them?
