Spring Piano recital

When you get like 9 months behind on your family blog you can't tell if you all ready did this and why you don't have pictures of your other kid...but you seem to remember your phone battery dieing.....Anyway Cami and Taryn had a spring recital and both girls did great. Taryn is not really in love with piano but is still plodding along so that she can get advanced enough that we'll let her switch to guitar/eukalalie. Cami is getting really good and she really enjoys it. It is really nice to have a kid play well enough that they just randomly go in and play without being asked to practice and it sounds peaceful.

Super glue

So you know that one time when your husband cute a big flapper on his head by bonking into the mailbox while painting it....then refused to go get stitches because your insurance is crap....then he asked if instead you coud just super glue it together instead...so you did....This is what it looks like after you mash it back together and glue it......good times and it is a good time for health care reform of healthcare reform...

End of the school Year

I love the end of the school year....especially the end of busy. This year Taryn and Jocelyn had end of year programs. Jocelyn and Taryn both earned Radiant Roadrunner Awards given to kids who went above and beyond the regular school requirements. They completed science fairs, did extra academic stuff, participated in student govenment, etc....It definately takes extra effort and I was really proud of both girls for working so hard. There was some drama when Taryn's teacher forgot to give her the award she earned but in the end it turned out ok. Cami and Taryn both wanted to have end of the year swimming parties with friends and I took that as a sign that they are both growing up. Creed had a party at preschool with water toys and then his buddy came over to play and had a "picnic" at chick-fil-a. It was a great school year and an even better summer! 

 

Father's and Son's Camp out

Brent took Creed on a first father son camp out and it was awesome! Creed is still talking about how fun it was and he's planning for the next one. He has told me all about a stream and kids falling in it. He loved going for a hike the next day with Brent. He loved every second of it.

While Brent was away the girls played too. We went out for dinner and came home to swim and watch a little fixer upper. Good times all around!

Swim baby

One of the coolest parts of our new house is the pool. The kids were so psyched to use it that as soon as Brent had the pumps working and the chemicals figured out they begged to be in it....despite that it was freaking cold until like May. So they started swimming in the frigid water in April and true to form Taryn squirted everyone with water guns. Creed scared us all with tricks (his swimming wasn't great until half way through the summer) and kept us on our toes. Cami sat on the side til it got warmer although she did try to swim. Jocelyn was full on mermaid from day one smiling and swimming and spashing despite the temperature. She is 100% happy girl in water and it makes all the work of a pool worth it to watch her swim. It is truly her happy place.

Cousins and conference

So two weeks after we moved into our new house the cousins came down to help with projects. Uncle Fred and Brent built and painted shelves in a storage room. Carolyn and the girls helped chose out curtains, unpack books, and watched soccer games. We all crashed and watched LDS general conference and when I say crashed I mean sat on the couch and fell asleep. It was great and we appreciated their help so much! Cousin Marissa also kindly introduced our kids to the magic that is snap chat. They had a good time making deer faces and rainbow barf pictures. We are so lucky to have awesome family!

Spring soccer with the littles

Spring soccer was so much fun. Jocelyn is getting really good and seems to be an intuitive player. She doesn't chase the ball she runs to space then steels the ball. It is fun to see how much progress she makes each season. 

I decided not to coach Creed this season to see if he liked the sport any better with someone else telling him how to play. I think he did love his coach and played better but was still not a lover of the sport which is so sad for me. What am I going to do with kids who don't like soccer? 

I somehow don't have pictures of Cami playing but I feel like she really made progress this spring too. She has been playing forward mostly and has learned how to be in the right place at the right time to recieve crossed balls. Her team is getting really good and they pretty much spank it.

track meet or rama

Each year the elementary school holds a track meet. For Taryn the whole value of the thing is getting to sit in the stands with her friends and eat Taki's. She doesn't like being sweaty or running. Each kiddo has to participate in three activities. Taryn always chooses the softball throw and the long jump because she can just whack them out and get back to her friends. She also has to run one race and she always chooses the shortest sprint she can. It is so funny to see her excited to go to a track meet when she is so not excited to actually do any track event. We did go and watch her and she did great...

I love you you love me...

I have absolutely loved that every morning this is my view when dropping off Taryn and Jocelyn for school. They jump out of the car and hold hands as they walk to their classrooms. I love this little spontaneous affection they give each other. They love each other and act like it (not always but every morning at least)...Its a major mom pay day. 

Taryn only has one more year of elementary school and it is sad. I hope Jocelyn survives without her. Maybe Jocelyn will just pass the love on to Creed when he starts school.

Baby Swan Dancer...or zebra in the rain..

Jocelyn had another dance recital and she was amazing. This year her ballet class danced to swan lake. She was in love with her costume but insisted on wearing her zebra rainboots to the recital. It was a very zoofestive look and she is so her own little person. She was also way into the "make-ups" and I guess it's ok since it is kind of like dress ups once a year. She also dance the cutie girl can can with her jazz class and another song with her tap dance class. She has loved being in dance but I think after doing three numbers in the recital we might make her choose just one or two classes next year.

Fairy power and snaggley teeth....

For our family Jocelyn got teeth really early. She also lost teeth really early....and she lost a lot of teeth at the same time in a crazy order. One of her front top teeth hung on while she lost the teeth on either side. The front tooth was just dangling by a thread for like 10 days but she wouldn't pull it out. She wouldn't let me close to her mouth either. It drove me insane and looked so snaggadilly. Finally one day when she was eating yogurt it popped out. You know that was one lose puppy if yogurt could knock it out. 

And just as a side note her letters to the tooth fairy are the BEST! She has asked for pixie fairy dust so she can fly. She has assured she will not tell if the tooth fairy will let her see her. She has called her her BFF. Every letter has some kind of gem and they are such a joy to read. So here's to hoping she keeps losing more teeth and writing more letters. It is the thing of mother's joy....until the braces come :)....
