This and That.....

It's been a while...We have started doing P90X every night which significantly impacts TV watching and blogging time....not a bad thing....BUT we have been busy with other fun things like....
Playing at the park

taking naps...
Again the park

Cami's science fair project-the night before it was due :) .....She got second place and was super proud of herself...I help with the everyday homework but I totally handed off the science fair to Brent. It worked out great-especially for me! ps if you boil one egg and compare it to a raw egg they have different properties-like buoyancy.....
Cami's multi school choir concert-singing the wild wild west and slinging guns. I had to laugh because just the day before I had read that a kindergarten kid got suspended for making a gun with his fingers and pointing it at some other kid during a game at recess (cops and robbers or hunters or soldier or something like that I am sure). Here hundreds of kids are TAUGHT to gun up and shoot at the crowd of on lookers....
Again more park....
And just in closing I am pretty sure I have the worlds cutest kids. Sure they have their moments but most of the time they are just good easy kids and I couldn't be luckier...

Spring Break Baby

This spring break was a kind of low key but fun week. Friday afternoon Brent popped up the camping trailer and the kids and neighbor kids had fun playing in it. That night Brent was a good Dad and slept out there with Cami and Taryn while Jocelyn and I had a quiet evening inside the house.
Monday we went swimming in Grandma's hot tube and it was just perfect weather for that. It was cool outside and the water was so warm. Jocelyn even had fun splashing around.
Tuesday we went shopping for new church sandals. I tried REALLY hard to let the girls chose the ones they wanted...They certainly wanted gemtastic ones....Taryn didn't want to take hers off for bed that night. Finally she agreed when I let her put them by her head so she could wake up and put them right on-which she did.
Wednesday we had a Scoobie Doo marathon and pedicure day. After all you can't wear new sandals without beautiful toes.
Thursday we played at the Sand Dunes in Snow Canyon and it was really fun. I was expecting it to be crowded but I guess we went late enough in the afternoon that not too many people were there.
We also enjoyed some March madness basketball-except for the parts where BYU lost...Uncle Daniel and Aunt Lisa and the cousins were in town for their spring break and it was so much fun to see them. They are growing up to be such beautiful girls.
Jocelyn discovered that Dora comes on panties and is now in love...and she has nice sisters that help her dress. She also grew some hair-just kidding. She is still bald but loves pretending. Anyway, it was a fun but relaxing break.

Taryn's new sparkle sandals and pj's first thing in the morning...
Jocelyn in sand with a faux hawk from the pony tail she pulled out in the car...
Taryn -I love her happy little face...
Cami burying her cousin
Making a sandcastle...except it doesn't work that well when the sand is dry...
Jocelyn had help sporting Dora panties when Cami and Taryn discovered how excited she was about them....
Jocelyn and the hair hat...and marker face...The hair almost looks real-almost....

Hiking and Biking

The last two weekends have been beautiful! Yesterday it was almost hot. I even got a little sunburn. So we spent the days outside exploring this beautiful place we live in.
Two weeks ago we went for a hike. At thanksgiving one clue for a scavenger hunt was hidden by a pond. It looked like the canyon behind the pond went up a ways and I wanted to come back and explore it. IT WAS AWESOME! The girls were great hikers and even though there was a good view of town it was high enough up that we couldn't hear the noise etc...
Yesterday we decided to bike a trail that is only about 7 1/2 miles but it is up and down and up and down. It was so much fun. Half way through, during a bumpy part, I looked back to check on Jocelyn in the trailer. (didn't want to do a bobble head on my baby) and Taryn was sitting her with her arm around Jocelyn's shoulders holding her. What a good sister. Cami and Taryn took turns riding the bike attachment thing on Brent's bike and hanging out in the trailer with Jocelyn. We stopped along the way to show the girls where we got engaged and it was fun to remember...
Anyway here are some pictures because I went a little crazy taking them....

Taryn with Brent
Stopping at our spot... how could I say no? Obviously I couldn't and boy am I glad!
Sister love - and yes I know we need to get Jocelyn a helmet of her own...
Cami with Brent
Cami kept calling herself and Taryn little mountain goats...I guess that's a compliment right?
I said "Hey Cam smile so I can take your picture"...She said "Mom this is my thoughtful pose. Take a picture of this."
Taryn warming up on the rocks...Yes they were twiners for the day except Taryn wore a dress underneath of course...
We had to stop and take pictures at every rock that had a hole in it...there were many....
The girls checking out the view and Jocelyn snoozing peacefully....
Again the mountain goats...
Look! We found something green in the desert!

Rock n Roll

Taryn is a true rocker at heart...at least as rocking as Taylor Swift....Her latest favorite activity is turning music up really loud and dancing all over my bed...(no I am not really thrilled about the bed part). BUT a really funny really sad thing happened last week. Cami got home from school and wanted to join in the "rock out" as Taryn calls it. So two girls were going strong having SO MUCH FUN. I just kicked back laughing and cheering and videoing it (hence the really funny part)... until Cami whipped out the air guitar...Taryn was standing behind her and apparently Cami is a fierce guitarist (the really sad part). With one up swing to Taryn's nose Taryn was down for the count. Her nose actually bled for 35 minutes-like really bled for 35 minutes. Taryn was really brave about it and accepted Cami's VERY heartfelt apology quickly but later suggested that only one rocker at a time should be on the bed...And good news-her cute little nose is not broken and the blood came out of the clothes (a new shirt) and my bed spread.

Pajama Rama

Last year one of Cami's favorite books was Fancy Nancy's Pajama Day....Well it just so happens that Cami has the habit of puking through every pajama day at her school. She missed all 2 or 3 in kindergarten which always resulted in copious tears and heart ache. So when she puked through the first one of this year she sobbed "BUT MOM WHAT IF I NEVER GET TO GO TO A PAJAMA DAY UNTIL I'M A HUNDRED!!!" The heart break was only stronger with time.... I am glad to say she joyfully spent last Friday in pajamas at school all day with no barfing! Let the good times roll baby!

A disaster in the making...

So this is what I save her from like 47 times a day.....

And then thinking she would stop here I stepped back and put down the camera. Next she cleared off the desk with a vigorous push and climbed up to give the monitor a hug...At which point I intervened to stave off the disaster in the making....

Miscellaneous

Cami won an award at school last week for being the super citizen of her class. They said they had never heard anyone say anything bad about Cami and that they had never heard Cami say anything bad about anyone else. I think that is a HUGE compliment and wish I could have the same said of me. What a good kid.

After trying to talk to Taryn for several minutes and her just talking over me and not listening I finally in total frustration put my finger over her lips and shushed her....She stopped then said "Mom please stop handcuffing my lips...."

After we read an article on the beauty of adoption we were talking to the girls about what a wonderful gift it is-giving a child a home with a loving family and giving the family a child to love...So after I think we have had a great discussion on it I had the girls repeat what we had learned...Cami pretty much got it word for word...Then I asked Taryn if this story reminded her of anyone (we recently were lucky to get a new cousin through the gift of adoption)....she said "uhhh.....Taylor Swift.....Just kidding I just made that up......" Nice.....

Speaking of Taylor Swift I updated the play list on here to reflect the girls preferences this time. Taryn BEGS for anything Taylor Swift or Miley Cyrus or skater boy....Cami has a broader taste in music and favors Big Green tractor, Fireflies, Faith Hill....Their musical choices are very telling of their personalities...its kind of funny. Jocelyn likes simple gifts (or maybe it just reminds me of her)-it is the lullaby she has gotten almost every day of her life thanks to aunt Rebekah buying her the CD mommy was too cheep to buy....

And not to leave Jocelyn out she is still driving us crazy but in a good way. She learned how to climb up and hit the copy/print button on the printer....and does it 47 times a day. She also learned how to climb up the speaker, then the tower and mess with the volume control on the computer....(or any other button she can push)...She still isn't talking a ton but does Baaa when reading Baa Baa black sheep. She has been way more into books lately and still is a cuddly kiddo...She tries very hard to keep up with her older sisters..She bolted outside the other day and headed over to her friends house to play. I followed her just to see how far she would go and how brave she was...She made it all the way there with out looking back once....Good thing our front door locks.

A summary of February

Somehow February has gotten away from me but we did stay busy doing a lot of fun things...so February in review....
We learned how to "throw" pots
Jocelyn discovered Fancy Nancy books and is an avid fan.
We went hiking with friends...
Happy little buddies...
The girls learned how to talk the neighbor into painting their faces like every other day...yes she is a very nice neighbor...
Jocelyn discovered the dress ups...
We went to the park with Grandma and Papa when they spent a week here.
We had a great Valentines day complete with a china candle lite dinner (eating KFC) and a concert at an assisted living home given by Brent and his boy band...(a community choir).
Jocelyn discovered the world of baby dolls...
The cousins came for a long weekend and the kids LOVED staying up late, listening to special agent stories, and eventually settling down for sleep.... We hiked and swam too...
Jocelyn had her first pony tail...barely....
We fed ducks with more cousins for another weekend visit...and no one fell in or was attacked...

And we all played at the park in the rain...
And the princesses attacked the dragon and I am pretty sure they finished him....
And they tried hard to take a group picture....
Hey look-all of us in one picture! It's so nice to have someone around to take a family picture....
And on a scenic drive the girls caught snowflakes on their tongues...

Yes, February was a busy month...Good thing it was busy making happy memories and spending lots of time with family.
